MBB Game #18: What can’t Radebaugh do?

He’s climbing the games played & started list. He’s already moved past 1,000 points and is among the top ten in rebounds. Assists and steals are a part of a climb up the charts.

And, as relayed by Jeff Linder in post-game today: Jonah Radebaugh has done most of it without full sight. Contacts are a new addition this season, as is his proficiency scoring.

The ball movement? It’s been there, but is even improved.

Saturday, Radebaugh racked up his second points/assists double-double and third overall in leading the Bears past Idaho 74-53. While it took nearly six minutes for UNC to get it’s offense going, once it began clicking, Radebaugh was at the center of it. 13 assists on UNC’s 27 field goals while committing one turnover (The Bears coughed it up only four times total).

Radebaugh also drew the assignment most of the day on Trevon Allen, the second leading scorer in the conference. Allen scored 23, but only managed one three pointer on the day and turned it over three times of the 13 the Vandals committed.

As we’ve seen through the season, when Sam Masten has been out, Radebaugh’s efforts as point guard have been stellar. With Masten out for between two to five weeks with a broken left hand, that play will be necessary for UNC to continue near the top of the Big Sky.
