UNC MBB Game #8: Good to be back home

UNC Recap: It was 80’s night inside Bank of Colorado Arena Wednesday night, and UNC men’s basketball definitely found the groove. The Bears soared past the Northern New Mexico Eagles 92-47 to grab their 4th win of the season.

The game-plan for the Bears was clear from the beginning, attack from beyond the arc, and they did just that. The Bears were 46.3 percent from beyond the arc, going 19-41 for the game.

Trent Harris had the green light for the evening and paced the Bears in scoring by putting up 24 points in as many minutes. He took all of his shots from beyond the 3-point line, going 7-16.

Troy’s Take: First, I specifically had to request some Prince. That should’ve been a no-brainer on 80’s night.

Slow starts have been a problem for this team, including the last time out a home against Colorado College. That wasn’t an issue Wednesday, as the Bears hit their first two treys and built a 10-2 lead before the first timeout. While NNMU put together a small run, UNC ramped up their outside shooting to build the lead and kept building.

As much as anything, this was about working out the kinks following a tough stretch of games coupled with travel. Now, it’s back to the grind for a week-plus as finals week starts Monday.
