PSD student chastised for racist IG post mocking murder of black MN man

A Poudre School District student is being chastised for a racist social media post. Superintendent Sandra Smyser condemned the student’s “appalling and racist” Instagram post related to the death of George Floyd, a black man who died after a white Minneapolis police officer pressed his knee into the back of Floyd’s neck and pinned him to the ground. The student’s post was taken down, according to a letter emailed to district families over the weekend, coloradoan.com reports. District administrators are investigating.
MEANWHILE…
A small group of Greeley-area residents gathered downtown for a peaceful candlelight vigil Saturday to honor George Floyd. Members of Weld Air and Water, a grassroots community group of Weld County residents, protested what they see as “institutionalized racism” in the wake of Floyd’s death.
