Weld County residents cry foul after eagle’s nest chopped down

WELD COUNTY, Colo. — Some Weld county residents aren’t happy about a tree holding a bald eagle’s nest being cut down. kdvr.com reports, a rancher received a permit allowing him to remove the tree on County Road 13 and County Road 34, as part of an irrigation project. The property owner cut down the tree Thursday, and Fish and Wildlife officials said, while some eagles remain in Colorado through winter, they are not actively using the nests and should have no problem relocating before breeding season begins in January.
