Woman convicted after filing false Red Flag petition against CSU officer

A woman is found guilty of lying on a Red Flag petition against a Colorado State University police officer. A jury convicted Susan Holmes of perjury and attempting to influence a public servant. Holmes was arrested in 2020 by Fort Collins police after she claimed to have a child in common with one of two officers accused of fatally shooting her son, 19-year-old Jeremy Holmes in 2017. Her Red Flag petition was her attempt at having the officer’s guns taken away. Holmes does not have a child with or have any relation to Corporal Phillip Morris. Morris. He and another officer were cleared of any wrongdoing in the 2017 case which police called “suicide by cop.” Holmes faces between two and six years in prison and hefty fines.
